TEHRAN (IQNA) – Telling the right and the truth and guiding people towards that is the main mission of prophets. However, some individuals have tried to hide the truth and promote falsehood so as to keep people in darkness.

The Holy Quran has cursed those who try to hide the truth, promising harsh punishment for them.

The issue of concealing the truth has had devastating effects on the history of mankind. The kind of threat that the Quran makes against those who cover up the truth is unique because the heinous act can keep generations of people in darkness.

“Those who hide the clear verses and the guidance We have sent down after We have clarified them in the Book for the people shall be cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers.” (Surah Baqarah, verse 159)

Humans naturally seek the truth, and those who hide it actually hampered human society on the path of its natural progress.

Hiding the truth is not limited to God's signs, but hiding anything that has the potential of leading people to reality is a great sin. Even silence in a place where one should speak becomes an example of hiding the truth, and this is in a case where people have a strong need to understand the truth, and informed scholars can solve this urgent need by stating the truth.

The Quran does not just point to the concealing of the truth, rather, it deems explaining the realities necessary. “When Allah took a covenant with those to whom the Book was given, (saying): 'You shall make it clear to the people, and not conceal it.” (Surah Al-Imran, verse 187)
