Forum Discusses What Quran, Bible, Torah Have in Common

ICOR’s Center for Dialogue among Faiths and Cultures organized the event, titled “Commonalities among Quran, Bible and Torah”.

Ali Akbar Ziaei, head of the center, said at the forum that the issue of common points in sacred texts is a major topic of discussion among those interested in Quranic sciences and inter-religious issues.

He said such forums are aimed at looking into different kinds of interfaith dialogue with a Quranic method and from a Quranic perspective.

Seyed Majid Sadat Kiyai, an expert with the center, was another speaker who said the Quran, the Bible and the Torah are three major divine books that have many common themes in the fields of beliefs, rules, and ethics.

He said all of the discussions in this forum and similar ones will be collected and published.

University scholar Majid Kasaei was the main speaker at the gathering. He said there have been numerous studies conducted in recent years about what the three divine books have in common.

He said scholars seek to investigate the similarities in these sacred books because the subject is interesting to many thinkers.

Kasaei also said that according to the Holy Quran, all divine faiths have been founded on common truths and are similar in fundamentals like belief in God, the Day of Judgment, the principle of prophethood, worshiping God, respecting parents, etc.
