TEHRAN (IQNA) – Religious logic attributes atheism to noncognitive factors. Studying the history of atheism, one notes that individuals such as Nietzsche, Sartre, and Camus have first accepted atheism and then searched for reasons to prove it.

In a seminar titled “Is God’s existence proved in the Quran?”, Ahmad Shahgoli, a researcher in the field of philosophy and religion, discussed the issue. Here is a summary of his remarks:

The results that can be driven from various Quranic verses is that the reason some people do not understand the evident existence of God is rooted in their stubbornness, hatred, and enmity.

Another point that has been mentioned in the verses and Hadiths is that committing sins is the source of rejecting God or prophethood. According to Hadiths, sins will lead people to deny prophethood and become a disbeliever.

According to religious logic, noncognitive factors are the main the reasons behind inclination of individuals toward atheism.  Studying the history of atheism, one notes that individuals such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Albert Camus have first accepted atheism and then searched for reasons to prove it.

According to Sartre, atheism can be traced to social disorders. He said he became an atheist while he was 12 and then searched for reasons and evidence for it. If atheism has noncognitive reasons, then answering it also should be done through noncognitive reasoning.

Bertrand Russell was when asked what he would say if, after his death, he found himself face-to-face with God. He replied: “I should say, God! Why did you make the evidence for your existence so insufficient?” However, one should have reminded Russel that evidence for God’s existence can be seen everywhere and that he has failed to spot them.
