IQNA – The qaris making it to the semifinal round of Al-Kawthar TV Channel’s 17th international Quran competition were named.

According to the TV channel, the semifinalists are those who have scored the highest points in the previous round.

They are from nine countries, namely Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

The semifinal round of the competition began on Friday evening.

Ultimately, the top five participants from five distinct countries will progress to the grand finale, scheduled for the blessed night of Eid al-Fitr.

The phone-in Quran competition titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31) is held in the blessed month of Ramadan every year.

It is the Muslim world’s biggest live Quran recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.
