Black Flags, Banners in Bazaar of Tabriz in Muharram

IQNA – Iranian Muslims hold mourning rituals in the lunar Hijri month of Muharram to show their devotion to Imam Hussein (AS) and commitment to his path.

Ahead of Muharram, they cover walls and buildings with black banners and flags as a sign of mourning. The following photos show the installation of black banners in the bazaar of Tabriz in northwestern Iran.
