Speaking in a press conference on Sunday in Mashhad, Reza Khorakian, a senior executive manager of the shrine, announced the shrine’s plans for the mourning month of Muharram.
The mourning programs at the shrine have been organized into 41 chapters, he said, announcing this year’s slogan as “The free people of the world are in Hossein's tent.”
One of this year's plans is to present the flag of the shrine to the top 80 national and international mourning gatherings in Muslim countries such as India and Pakistan, he said.
“Since the start of the Muharram, 11 moukebs have been set up to welcome pilgrims in various areas of the shrine,” Khorakian said, adding, “We predict that by the end of Ashura, we will have welcomed 6 million Razavi pilgrims.”
He noted that each night at Quds Courtyard, people from a specific province will hold mourning processions.
