Improving familiarity with the Quran and deepening the understanding of it among judiciary employees can significantly reduce errors in case evaluations and judgment issuance, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Taqian, head of the Judiciary Branch’s Basij Force, told IQNA.
“This closeness to the Holy Quran can have a profound and positive impact on criminals in court and inmates in prisons, helping to transform their behavior and character,” he added.
Given the proven positive effects of Quranic programs in places like detention centers and prisons, the Judiciary Branch have developed a comprehensive plan to establish Quranic circles and activities, he highlighted.

Prevention is always better than cure, so it's crucial for cultural and social institutions to collaborate in promoting Quranic culture and knowledge, Taqian said, adding, “By encouraging families and communities to align with the teachings of the Quran through various means, we have witnessed a decrease in crime and social misconduct, significantly reducing the number of judicial cases.”
Even individuals with extensive histories of wrongdoing have been positively influenced by the Quran, as evidenced in prisons where expertly designed Quranic programs are in place, he noted.
Inmates who become familiar with the Quran often become active participants in promoting these programs, he said, adding that some inmates have not only become qaris and memorizers of the Quran but have also taken on roles as Quranic instructors, helping to educate other prisoners.
