The Iranian Cultural Attaché in Thailand held a meeting with officials of Chulalongkorn University

The theme of the third edition will be “role of religious leaders in establishing world peace”.

Officials of Chulalongkorn University’s Center for Asian Studies and Islamic Research were also present at the meeting.

The Iranian cultural envoy, Mehdi Zare Bieyb, underlined the importance of interfaith dialogue in strengthening world peace and hailed the selection of the university as the next host of the forum.

He said the series of forums are aimed at promoting peace in the world and enhancing peaceful coexistence in different societies.

He noted that Iran hosted the first edition, which features a broad range of topics related to challenges and opportunities for interaction among faiths in the contemporary era.

Zare Bieyb added that the second edition was held in Thailand focusing on the successful models of religious coexistence in Asia and role of religious leaders in reducing cultural and social tensions.

He said holding the third edition at Chulalongkorn University can provide an opportunity for researchers and faith leaders to come up with new strategies for world peace and create a network of religious thinkers and elites at the international level.

In addition to its scientific aspects, the forum can contribute to the development of sustainable collaborations between Iranian and Thai universities in various fields, including comparative religious studies, regional studies, and academic exchange programs, he stated.

“It is suggested that in the future, a series of joint conferences and workshops be held between the two countries to institutionalize these collaborations in the long term.”
