IQNA – Churches in the Syrian city of Suweida were set on fire by militants affiliated with the Jolani regime, informed sources said.

They said on Tuesday that the regime of Jolani and militants affiliated to it have made many efforts to prevent reports of their crimes from being reported in Syria, Al-Ma'ulouma reported.

The atrocities have been particularly divisive in the city of Suweida in recent weeks, with at least six churches burned down as regime affiliated militia swept through the city, driving out thousands of Christian families.

The sources stated that these crimes are added to the long list of violations by the Jolani regime in Syria.

The terrorists in Syria do not only target Alawites or Druze, but Christians are also not immune from their attacks, they said.

They added that that the Jolani regime’s goal is to change the demographic structure in these areas.

Armed opposition groups in Syria, led by the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group, launched their operations on November 27, 2024 with the goal of ousting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from power.

They targeted areas in the northwest, west, and southwest of Aleppo, and ultimately, after 11 days, announced their control over the city of Damascus on December 8, 2024, with HTS leader Abu Muhammed al-Jolani later declaring himself interim president of Syria.
