The meeting which took place on Sunday at the headquarters of the ministry, was attended by Sheikh Taher bin Zaher bin Masoud bin Saeed Al-Azwani, director of the Quran Department of Oman’s Awqaf ministry, and Sheikh Mohammed Fahd Kharouf, a Syrian master of Quran recitations, interpretation and Quranic sciences, Al-Ayyam reported.

The judges praised Algeria’s efforts in serving the Quran and hailed the role and position of this international competition in strengthening and spreading Quranic values.

Belmahdi wished the judges a pleasant stay and success in their mission, and the guests also appreciated the warm welcome and hospitality of the Algerians.

The 21st edition of the Algeria International Prize for Quran Memorization and Recitation has been organized with the participation of 48 countries.

The preliminary stage was remotely held via videoconference at Algerian embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions abroad and under the supervision of a committee of international judges, including four judges from Algeria, one judge from Syria and another judge from Oman.

At the end of the preliminary stage on December 31, 2025, 20 contestants from different countries were selected as those qualifying for the final stage, which will be held later this month.
