The coincidence of the days commemorating the anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini (RA) with Eid al-Ghadir gave this ceremony a special color and flavor.

During the ceremony, the slogans of “Haidar, Haidar” were echoed by the attendees, and the crowd, recalling the incident of Ghadir and the importance of the issue of Wilayat (guardianship) in Islamic thought, once again emphasized their commitment to the path of Wilayat and leadership.

Many participants considered this coincidence an opportunity to renew their pledge to the ideals of the late Imam (RA) and the martyred Leader and to renew their allegiance to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Meanwhile, the slogans of “Allahu Akbar”, “O noble Leader, we are ready, we are ready”, “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” were repeatedly chanted by the crowd, adding special excitement and enthusiasm to the ceremony. In previous years, the main speaker of this ceremony was the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, but this year a chair decorated with his image was placed at the ceremony.

The central slogan of this year's ceremony was “A covenant with the Imams of the Revolution and an oath of allegiance to the Leader of the Revolution”.

Born in 1902, he grew to become the iconic leader of the Iranian nation’s struggle in the 1970s against the centuries-old monarchical tyranny.

Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 87.
