The footage, dating back to February 1991, shows Egyptian qaris Shahat Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Ahmed Basyouni accompanied by Iranian qaris Hashem Roghani and Mohammad Javad Panahi during a visit to Ferdowsi’s tomb.

Shahat Muhammad Anwar (July 1950- January 2008) was among the Muslim world’s eminent qaris who traveled to Iran many times.

Muhammad Ahmed Basyouni (born in 1951) is also a well-known Egyptian qari who began reciting the Quran at Quranic circles and various ceremonies at the age of 12.

He is an Al-Azhar University graduate who teaches religious sciences at the same university.

The Tomb of Ferdowsi is a tomb complex composed of a white marble base, and a decorative edifice erected in honor of the Persian poet Ferdowsi located in Tus (20km north of Mashhad) in Iran’s Razavi Khorasan province.

The author of Shahnameh (Book of Kings), which is one of the world’s longest epic poems created by a single poet, and the greatest epic of Persian speaking countries, Ferdowsi is celebrated as one of the most influential figures of Persian literature and one of the greatest in the history of literature.
