Speaking to IQNA, Masoud Ansari who has rendered the Zamakhshari Interpretation of the Quran into Persian, said an assessment of the Quran renderings into Persian done in the past 10 to 20 years indicates that the expectations from these renderings have been mostly met.
He said the aim of a Quran translation is conveying the overall meaning of the words and sentences of the verses not interpreting the verse.
Ansari stated that among the current Persian translations of the Quran there are some that are quite successful in conveying the meanings and some that focus on literary or narrative translation.
Asked whether one translation can be selected as the standard one, he said it cannot be done because no translation is perfect.
Ansari further hailed the good work carried out in the field of Quran translation since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said in the past 30 years some great strides have been taken in this field.
