IQNA – Various Yemeni associations and organizations have condemned the recent desecration of the Holy Quran in the United States and welcomed a call by the Houthi leader to hold demonstrations in condemnation of the sacrilegious move.

Last week, in a controversial move in Plano, US state of Texas, Florida Republican Senate candidate Jake Lang insulted the Holy Quran, placing a copy of the Holy Book in the mouth of a pig during a demonstration, which angered Muslims, human rights activists, and international observers and caused widespread shock at the domestic and international levels.

In a video published on social media, Lang appeared holding a piglet with a copy of the Quran in its mouth, describing the animal as “the weakness of Islam” and saying: “This is your weakness, Muslims. We will send you back to where you came from, carrying pigs in our hands and Christ in our hearts.”

Later, Houthi Ansarullah leader Abdul Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi condemned the new insult to the Holy Quran in the United States and emphasized that this is a despicable act that directly targets the Quran, the legacy of the prophets, and the divine books preserved for the world, Al-Masirah reported.

He said the move was an act of election propaganda and a heinous crime against the most sacred religious sanctities of Muslims.

Al-Houthi described this anti-religious movement within the framework of the Zionist war against Muslims; a war in which the United States, Britain, the Zionist enemy and their allies in the West and the East participate with the aim of misleading and enslaving human societies, committing crimes and desecrating sacred places to achieve the goals of plunder and occupation.

Those who are guided by the Quran are protected from misguidance and corruption, and the Quran is the guarantor of saving humanity from tyranny and slavery and a strong fortress for those who seek salvation in this world and the hereafter, he emphasized.

Al-Houthi called on the Yemeni people to condemn the desecration of the Quran in the United States by conducting extensive activities in universities and schools and holding large demonstrations this Friday (December 19) with the participation of religious scholars and popular organizations.

He urged them that in these demonstrations, they should emphasize religious identity, declare their clear position in opposing American and Zionist insults to the Quran, support the Palestinian people and prepare to confront conspiracies against the Islamic Ummah.

In a statement, the Yemeni Government of Change and Construction welcomed the call and said confronting these deliberate and repeated insults is a religious duty of all Muslims in different parts of the world.

In this statement, the Yemeni people and all institutions in this country were invited to responsibly and consciously respond to the call of the Houthi leader to take action and declare a position against the repeated insults to the holy places and the continuous violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Zionists, and to participate in the million-strong demonstration of anger on Friday.

The Supreme Judicial Council of Yemen also called on Arab and Islamic nations, scholars, and relevant international organizations to confront the aggressive attacks against Islamic sanctities.

In a statement, the council condemned the insult to the Quran in the US and stressed that the purpose of these attacks is to incite hatred and that such moves have nothing to do with freedom of expression.

The Supreme Judicial Council of Yemen called for an end to these racist acts against Islam and the Holy Quran, and announced its support for the call of the Yemeni Houthi leader for popular action to oppose the desecration of the Quran.

The Yemeni Scholars Association, meanwhile, said this crime shows deep hatred and open hostility towards everything that represents the pride and dignity of the Islamic Ummah, and indicates that the enemy has aimed its vengeful arrows at the Holy Quran, because it knows that the Quran is the source of strength, progress and unity of the Ummah.

The association called on all Muslims to condemn this crime and declare their opposition to it, and called on the Ummah’s scholars, preachers and intellectuals to fulfill their religious and moral responsibility to raise awareness among the nations, fight against the enemies of the Islamic Ummah, and oppose their aggressive projects.
