Following the end of this year’s Hajj season, the Holy Ka’aba in Makkah will be washed with pure Iranian rosewater and Zam Zam water.

Khalid Al-Faisal, the Emir of Makkah and Head of Saudi Arabia’s Central Hajj Committee said the washing ceremony will be held on Monday, November 18.

The emir will wash the inside of the Holy Ka’aba with Zamzam water intermingled with pure Iranian rosewater, and brush its walls using water-wetted white cloth.

Washing the Ka’aba is an old tradition which is performed twice a year, in the months of Sha’aban and Muharram in the Islamic calendar.

The tradition dates back to the time of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) when he washed the Ka’sba after his conquest of Makkah.
