Syrian Mufti Urges for Unity of Muslim Scholars in Support of Resistance, the Oppressed

Syria’s Grand Mufti Shekih Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun called on Muslim world’s scholars and thinkers to unite to support the resistance of Muslims and the oppressed.

Addressing the 26th International Conference of Islamic Unity in Tehran, he urged secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Ayatollah Mohsen Araki to make endeavors to forge unity among Muslim scholars.
He started his speech by extending his felicitations on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Imam Sadeq (AS).
Hassoun said the conference is held at a time when the Muslim Ummah is under threat and the enemies are attacking Muslims from different directions.
He added that Muslim countries are at a crossroads today and should make their stances clear.
Syria’s Mufti referred to what happened to Somalia, Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq in the past few years and stressed that the hegemonic powers and the colonialists have created the adverse situation in these countries.
He referred to the enmity of the world arrogance toward Syria and said the reason behind this hostility is Syria’s support for the Islamic resistance.
Hassoun hoped that an Islamic unity conference will be soon held in Damascus.
