According to IQNA’s ICRO branch, over 40 Quran memorizers and reciters from various cities including Dodoma, Morogoro, Tanga and Dar-es-Salaam competed in the categories of recitation, Tajweed and memorization of the Holy Quran’s verses.
The final stage and closing ceremony of the contest were held at Al-Istiqama Mosque with the participation of Tanzania’s former president Ali Hassan Movini, Mahdi Agha Ja’fari, Iranian ambassador to Tanzania, Morteza Saburi, Iranian cultural attaché in the country and a number of clerics and the citizens.
Addressing the ceremony, Iranian cultural attaché highlighted the importance of contemplating the Holy Quran and holding Quranic programs on religious occasions.
The Iranian ambassador, in his speech, appreciated the efforts of the Iranian cultural center and cooperation of Quranic institutes in Tanzania in organization of the contest and stressed the need for promoting such Quranic activities.
The Tanzanian official then took the podium and urged Quranic institutes to support Quranic activities in the country.
He stated that culture and ethics of Muslims should be based on the teachings of the Holy Quran and that their problems can be solved by adherence to the Divine Book.
