ROHM Denounces Recitation of Quran during US Jazz Band Show, Expresses Apology
The management of the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) apologised for an incident where a member of a US jazz band recited Holy Quran during a show performed at the opera house on Thursday.
Investigations showed that the person who recited Surat Al Fatiha during the show was a Muslim who thought that by reciting the Surat in an Islamic country, he could please the audience. According to him, the recitation was not derision but an expression of his love for Holy Quran.
The band also expressed its dissatisfaction and confirmed that this is an individual act, noting that the role played by the person in the show was a minor one.
The ROHM management denounced the act and expressed their apology to all those who attended the event.
According to officials, the incident surprised the organizers and audience alike and necessary legal action will be taken in this regard.
