More than a week after Zionist troops desecrated the Holy Quran in Al-Aqsa Mosque, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars finally condemned the blasphemous act.
Speaking in a program aired by Al-Jazeera Arabic news network, Yusuf Al-Qaradawi at last condemned the sacrilege and called on Muslims to support the Palestinian nation in their confrontation with occupation, Dunya Al-Watan website reported.
He also slammed recurring attacks by the Zionist regime on Islamic sites in the holy city of Quds, warning that 75 percent of the Ma'man Allah cemetery has been destroyed.
The belated condemnation of the act of Quran desecration shows that the president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, who is sometimes referred to as the Mufti of the Zionists, does not attach much importance to such a serious issue as disrespect to the Holy Book of Islam.
Qaradawi has recently issued a Fatwa saying that it is alright to kill Iraqi Prime Minister Nour Al-Maliki and a number of Shia scholars, a move aimed at provoking sectarianism and fomenting religious discord.
On Sunday, March 3, Israeli forces stormed a session of Quran recitation in Al-Aqsa Mosque in the West Bank, when a Zionist soldier stepped on a copy of Islam’s Holy Book.
This is not the first time that Israelis desecrate Muslim sanctities. Zionist forces and settlers have on numerous occasions attacked mosques and religious sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.
