Iraqi Delegation Meets Officials of Russia’s Muftiat Council

Ways for developing religious cooperation between Iraq and Russia were discussed at a meeting of an Iraqi delegation with the officials of Russia’s Muftiat Council on May 24.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the meeting was attended by Sheikh Farid Asad Evlin, senior advisor to the Grand Mufti of Russia, Eldar Galiev, head of the International Relations Section, Ramil Gulamov, representative of the international organization of the council, Humam Baqir Abd Al-Majid Hamoudi, head of the International Relations Committee of Iraqi Parliament, Ismail Shafeeq Muhsin, Iraqi ambassador to Russia, Mutahhar Hussein Al-Murshidi, in charge of cultural affairs of Iraqi embassy and a number of religious and cultural figures of the two countries.
The participants discussed ways for promoting and developing Iraq-Russia cooperation in religious and cultural fields as well as the current status of relations between the two countries.
Russian officials stated that over 3000 Iraqi youths are studying in educational institutes in Russia and noted that the Russian government is ready to boost cooperation with the government of Iraq in various arenas.
The Iraqi representatives, for their part, expressed willingness to participate at the Halal Products Exhibition in Moscow as well as the international Quran recitation contest in Russia.
