Anti-Hijab Islamophobe in Court in France
The first session of the trial of an anti-Hijab Islamophobe in France was held near the city of Orlean on Friday.
The French Committee for Combating Islamophobia (CCIF) announced this adding that the court session was attended by the lawyers of Muslim women who had been attacked by the defendant. CCIF members also took part in the court session.
The defendant is charged with using violence and insulting women in public for their nationality, race or religion.
He had attacked three Hijab-wearing women, a mother, her daughter and her granddaughter, on June 14.
The man is in police custody and the court’s final ruling is expected to be issued by the end of July.
