TEHRAN (IQNA) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed the need for unity in the Muslim Ummah.

“Unity is the great lesson from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and an urgent need of the Muslim Ummah,” the Supreme Leader said Friday in a meeting with the delegates to the Islamic Unity Conference, Iranian officials, ambassador of Islamic countries to Iran and different groups of people.
His Eminence congratulated Muslims on the auspicious birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadeq (AS) and said that striving for realization of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) unifying message should be the main priority of Muslim countries and nations.
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed deep regret over the success of enemies’ divisive plots and called on Muslims to stand up against the world arrogance and the Zionist regime.
The Supreme Leader underscored that all Muslim nations should close ranks and foster their unity, which will guarantee the progress of the Muslim Ummah.
His Eminence further described the move by some regional governments to concentrate their foreign policy on hostility toward Iran as a big mistake and said despite this unwise policy (of certain countries in the region), the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to base its foreign policy on friendship and fraternity with all Muslim countries including those in the region.
Prior to the Supreme Leader’s statements, Iranian President delivered a speech in which he extended felicitations on the auspicious occasion and called for following the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and enhancing Muslim unity.
The 17th day of the month of Rabi al-Awwal on the lunar Hijri calendar marks the birth anniversaries of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadeq (AS), the sixth Imam of Shias. This year it is on Friday, January 9.
