Speaking to IQNA, Feys Muhammad Teysir Tibyan added that the crimes committed by the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and other Takfiri groups have led to the spread of Islamophobia in the West.
“This is what the West had been seeking,” he underlined.
The ISIL extremist group, which controls parts of Syria’s northern territory, sent its fighters into neighboring Iraq in June last year, quickly seizing large swaths of land straddling the border between the two countries.
Tibyan condemned Takfiris’ heinous crimes and said they have nothing to do with the teachings of Islam and the Quran.
He stressed that destroying shrines and sacred places, committed by groups like ISIL, are acts of extremism and should be condemned.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Jordanian activist highlighted the need for unity among Muslims and unified leadership in the Muslim world.
“The Islamic world is currently suffering for lack of leadership,” he said adding that the Islamic Republic should take the Muslim world leadership in order to unite Shia and Sunni Muslims.
