Iraq’s Oldest Female Quran Teacher Honored at Imam Ali (AS) Holy Shrine

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Dar-ol-Quran Center of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine in Najaf, Iraq, hosted the first and the oldest female teacher of Tajweed principles and various Quran recitation styles in Iraq.

According to the website of the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine, Muntaha Hosn Al-Khafaji, the Iraqi Quran activist was honored in a ceremony at the Dar-ol-Quran.

Born in 1932 in Dhi Qar Province of Iraq, Al-Khafaji is a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

The lady, known as "Umm Al-Hajah”, was dispatched to Egypt to study Quranic sciences in her youth.

She paid a visit to the Women Quran Section of the Astan and provided some advice on improvement of methods of Quran teaching.
