She has memorized the Quran not by using a Braille copy of the Holy Book but by listening to Quran recitation tapes, according to al-Arabi al-Jadid website.

Sana, who was born blind, was keen to listen to Quran recitations since an early age.

The 33-year-old who lives in the city of Rafah, Gaza Strip, started learning the Quran by heart at home when she was 17 and memorized three Juzes of the Holy Book.

She then enrolled in a Quran memorization course at a local mosque and surprised her teachers by memorizing half of the Quran in a short period of time.

It then took Sana just one and a half months to memorize the rest of the Surahs of the Quran.

In order to fix in her mind the Surahs she had memorized, Sana joined the Society of Women Quran memorizers affiliated to Gaza Dar-ol-Quran Center.

Members of the society describe her as a very good role model for women suffering from disabilities as she has managed to overcome her impairment.

Sana now plans to learn Quran recitation skills. She also wants to become a Quran memorization teacher and teach visually-impaired women.
