TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iranian Cultural Center in Sri Lanka has published an article titled “Holy Quran and Human Rights” in the South Asian country.

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the article was published in Tamil on Thoothu website on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

The article highlights Imam Khomeini’s efforts in the Islamic Revolution and stresses that it was due to his leadership and based on the teachings of Islam and Quran that the revolution achieved victory and put an end to violation of human rights in Iran.

Issues related to human rights mentioned in the Holy Quran such as everyone’s right to life, human’s dignity, justice and the necessity of its establishment in society were among the themes discussed in the article.

During the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.

Sri Lanka is an island nation south of India in the Indian Ocean.

As of the 2011 census, Muslims make up around 10 percent of the country’s Buddhist-majority population.
