Addressing the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and the Government of the AU held in the African body’s headquarters in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Sunday Ramaphosa said the African Union reaffirms its unwavering support for the struggle of the Palestinian nation and their legitimate quest for an independent and sovereign state.
He also slammed the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump on Middle East and said it reminded him of the Bantustan system the Apartheid regime once imposed on the people in South Africa without consultation with them and with all the oppressive elements that system had.
In the meeting, the African Union (AU) condemned as “illegitimate” Trump's so-called deal of the century, stressing that the plan is in sheer violation of the United Nations and the African body’s resolutions.
The Bantustans were a major administrative device for the exclusion of blacks from the South African political system under the policy of apartheid.
