TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final stage of “Rattil” Quran contest organized by Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places for the holy month of Ramadan began on May 13.

According to factjo.com, this year’s competition has been held online since the beginning of the holy month due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Sheikh Ismail Fowaz Al-Khotaba, a member of the ministry, said that the Quran competition has been organized as part of the ministry’s programs for Ramadan.

Three age groups of participants including 2547 Quran reciters and memorizers compete in the final stage, he added.

The first group are 527 children aged 10 or younger, the second group are 1230 teenagers aged 11 to 14 and the third group are 790 ones from 15 to 18 years of age.

Top participants will be selected by the end of the week and five winners in each group will be announced.

The ministry holds the Quran recitation and memorization competition for men and women in national and international levels every year, but this year the Quranic event has been held online and only for the people in Jordan due to the virus restrictions.
