The Blue Mosque in the capital, Manila, hosted the competition, which was attended by 11 men and 12 women.
Winners were announced and awarded in a ceremony attended by a number of leaders of the country’s Muslim community.
Addressing the ceremony, Morteza Sabouri, Iran’s Cultural Attaché, highlighted the special status of the Holy Quran among Muslims and said that in addition to reciting the Quran, contemplating the lofty concepts of the Holy Book has also been emphasized.
He added that promoting the Quranic culture and contemplating its teachings is among the objectives of organizing Quran competitions.
Abdul Munim Suleiman, head of the Blue Mosque’s Dar-ol-Quran, also addressed the event, hailing the Iranian Cultural Center for holding the competition.
