Quranic Center Funded in Sulu Province of Philippines

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos established a Quran center in the Sulu province of the Philippines.

 

According to the Iranian Cultural Center in the Philippines, the Amilasan Islamic Institute for Quran Memorization has been founded with the assistance of Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

It will start its activities by admitting 20 learners for memorization of the Quran.

The costs of their education and accommodation will be paid by the sponsors.

Sulu is a province of the Philippines in the Sulu Archipelago and part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The Philippines is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia. Situated in the western Pacific Ocean, it consists of about 7,641 islands that are broadly categorized under three main geographical divisions from north to south.

According to national religious surveys, there are about 5.1 million Muslims in the Philippines, composing 6% of its population.

More than half of the country’s Muslims live on the large southern island of Mindanao.
