TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior Iranian cleric described fighting the global arrogance as a Quranic strategy.

Ayatollah Kaabi

Ayatollah Abbas Kaabi, a member of the Assembly of Experts’ presiding board, spoke to IQNA on the occasion of the Day of Fighting Global Arrogance.

Asked about the Quran’s view on combatting the arrogance, he said Jihad on the path of Allah is a Divine commandment.

Today, Jihad on the path of Allah is manifested in fighting the domination system and the global arrogance, the cleric said.

He noted that Jihad is not limited to military confrontation but it means making tireless efforts for progress, justice, peace and security in the world and countering the enemies of humanity.

The United States, as Imam Khomeini (RA) put it, is the great Satan and enemy of humanity and the reason for lack of peace, justice and security in the world, Ayatollah Kaabi added.

He said the US government has been seeking domination and plundering of Muslim nations’ wealth, waging wars in the region and creating instability and bloodshed in the region directly and indirectly via Takfiri terrorist groups.

It seeks to undermine Muslim countries in order to strengthen the Zionist regime, he stated.

Ayatollah Kaabi said it is the right of the Iranian nation and the Muslim Ummah to continue resistance against the arrogance and create balanced and deterrent power.

November 4 will mark the anniversary of the US embassy seizure, which marks the Day of Fighting Global Arrogance.

On November 4, 1979, less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students who called themselves “students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)’ seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban, the Iranian nation, especially students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.
