Ayatollah Sistani Condoles Demise of Muslim Scholar Mahdavi Damghani

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s top Shia cleric Ayatollah Seyed Ali Sistani has offered condolences over the demise of late Iranian Muslim scholar Ahmad Mahdavi Damghani.

 

In a message on Saturday, the senior Iraqi cleric said the news has caused him great sorrow and grief.

The lack of this scholar who had great ethical virtues and had dedicated long years of his life to research and teaching is a tragic loss, added Ayatollah Sistani.

He offered condolences to Damghani’s family and students, wishing them patience in the face of this loss.

Ahmad Mahdavi Damghani was an Iranian scholar and university professor of Islamic sciences and philosophy. He passed away on June 17 in the United States at the age of 95.

His body is set to be brought to Iran and laid to rest at Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine in Mashhad.

Mahdavi Damghani has authored several books on Islamic sciences and history.
