TEHRAN (IQNA) – All messengers of God are Hakim (wise) and the essence of religion is Hikma (wisdom) according to the Quran.

Hikma and Liberation from Ignorance Is Essence of Religion

Just like the body’s life is dependent on water, the life of the soul is dependent on knowledge and it dies with Jahl (ignorance).

Knowledge is the life of the soul and feeds it just as our body lives on food and water. Knowledge has different levels. Absolute knowledge saves people. All sciences save us from absolute ignorance and absolute knowledge, which is in religion and divine Hikma saves human beings.

The essence of religion is Hikma and the Holy Quran considers all prophets to be Hakim. It has been narrated from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that knowledge is like a light that God gives to everyone He wants.

When there is light one can distinguish the right path. He then has Furqan (the power to distinguish the truth from falsehood). Guidance is seeing with the light of the truth.

Some remain in darkness and fail to get free from it and be guided with the light of faith.

There are two kinds of Hayrat (wonder): one is from guidance, which is for the men of God when the light of guidance appears to them. This is a good one. Another is wonder in darkness and ignorance.

So one type of Hayrat is for believers. The more divine light is revealed to them the more their Hayrat will be. Divine Hayrat is good. One should have Hayrat in God. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) prayed to God to increase his Hayrat about Him.

Another type of Hayrat is not good and that is Hayrat in ignorance. Ibn Arabi has talked about these two types. He has also said having Hayrat is the sign of movement of the soul.

Any kind of movement, whether physical or spiritual, is a sign of life and divine life is in everything all over the world.
