There are verses in the Noble Quran which refer to dreams of divine prophets, especially that of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which demonstrate strange features of dreams and their relation with the world of truth.

The Holy Quran refers to dreaming and its effects as an important issue, touching upon it in several verses. Quranic references to dreams of prophets, rulers, and other individuals show a direct relation between dreams and the lives of people and the status of societies.

What follows are three verses that refer to the dreams of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). These references surely need further interpretation but what follows is just the translation of the lines.

1. “In your dream, God showed (the pagans' army) as being only a few in number, for if He had shown them as a great number, you would have lost courage and would have started to quarrel among yourselves concerning this matter. But God saved you from that condition; He knows what is in your hearts.” (Surah Al-Anfal, verse 43)

2. “God made the dream of His Messenger come true for a genuine purpose. (In this he was told), "If God wills You (believers) will enter the Sacred Mosque, in security, with your heads shaved, nails cut, and without any fear in your hearts." He knew what you did not know. Besides this victory, He will give you another immediate victory.” (Surah Al-Fath, verse 27)

3. “(Muhammad), We told you that your Lord has encompassed all mankind. We made the vision which We showed you and the condemned tree, mentioned in the Quran, as a trial for the human being. Even though We warn them, it only increases their rebellion.” (Surah Al-Isra', verse 60)
