Religion’s Blueprint for Humanity, Society
Religion’s overall plan for creating a dynamic and developing society can be summarized in 6 actions:
1- Discovering Human
The first thing religion does is discovering the human. A person who forgets himself, loses the path, the leader and the goal and falls to the status of an animal. Because he considers his goal to be reaching welfare and materialistic gains, he becomes like a dead person that the truth does not affect him. He becomes like a wolf in devouring others, like a fox in slyness, like a mouse in stealing, and like a rock in mercilessness. Such a person has been lost and should find and discover himself again.
Religion tells us that human beings’ asset and perfection are not in world desires. The Quran clearly shows how Islam introduces humanity:
A- Caliph of God on earth. (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 30)
B- “Do you not see how Allah has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and the earth?” (Surah Luqman, Verse 20)
C- “We offered the trust to the heavens, and the earth.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 72)
D- “I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit.” (Surah Al-Hijr, Verse 29)
E- You are the best of creation. (Verse 14 of Surah Al-Mu’minun and Verse 4 of Surah At-Tin)
F- “We have honored the children of Adam.” (Surah Al-Isra, Verse 70)
G- “(We have) exalted them above most of My creatures.” (Surah Al-Isra, Verse 70)
God warns mankind not to forget or lose his true identity because otherwise he would suffer a great loss. One should ask oneself: If I have been created for materialistic life and fulfilling worldly desires, why are there so many faculties and desires in me?
2- Leaving Darkness
Another job of religion is to extract and purify gems from this discovered mine. Mankind should be purified from ignorance, injustice, superstitions, disbelief, etc, as the Quran says: “He brings them out from darkness into the light.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 257)
3- Revival of Love
Religion creates love for the infinite in human beings and links them to that love. Then infinitely small is absorbed in infinitely big,
4- Personal Growth
Another thing religion does is helping people in personal development, which in turns helps the society to grow. Elevating a society begins with educating individuals.
5- Creation of Healthy Society
The fifth thing religion does is establishing bonds among believers and ultimately establishing a divine government in all aspects. Islam is a religion of unity and community. In prayers, even if we say prayers individually, we speak to God as a community: “(Lord), You alone We do worship and from You alone we do seek assistance. Guide us to the Straight Path.” (Surah Al-Fatiha, Verses 5-6)
6- Worthy Leadership
And another job of religion is to hand the united society over to a meritorious and capable leader and remove the danger of dominance of oppressive, unjust, ignorant and corrupt people.
