TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Holy Quran says that Jesus (AS) prayed for Divine Ma’idah (food).

Jesus Christ (AS)

Ma’idah means a table with food and blessings and it can be said that Jesus’s supplication refers to the revelation of the Quran, which is all goodness, beauty and truth.

“Jesus, son of Mary, prayed, ‘O Allah, our Lord! Send us from heaven a table spread with food as a feast for us—the first and last of us—and as a sign from You. Provide for us! You are indeed the Best Provider.’” (Surah Al-Ma’idah, verse 114)

“Ma’idah” means a divine table spread with food interpreted as both material and spiritual food. It would be proper for everyone to whisper the supplication in his heart by his tongue asking God for not only worldly Ma’idah but also for a spiritual one which is the special sustenance for humans in heaven.

Divine Ma’idah is either a kind of wisdom and knowledge or includes good deeds and providing services to people which itself is our spiritual sustenance. If one does not do a good deed and does not make anyone happy and does not bring peace to anyone in his life, he will weaken spiritually and die from within.

Tasting spiritual joy needs planning and one of the important steps that should be taken on this way is companionship with educated and spiritual people. Another step is to provide and study useful books and learn an art such as music or painting or at least listen to music and watch great visual arts.

The supplication in verse 114 of Surah Al-Ma’idah can be considered as a praying for the revelation of the Quran, which is all a Divine table spread of goodness, beauty and truth.

It can also be said that the Divine Ma’idah is the words of Jesus (AS) that have remained, according to which all humans can shake hands of brotherhood and honestly and kindly provide services to each other and live peacefully.
