We, ordinary people, cannot hear them and in order to know what they say, we need to listen to Hadiths from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his Ahl-ul-Bayt’s (AS).
According to these Hadiths, what the unbelievers and evil-doers who have died try to convey to us is this:
I was deceived by Satan. He led me astray by pretending to be seeking my good.
I was deceived by the world. I attached my heart to it and trusted it and neglected God.
I was deceived by people pretending to be my friends. They abandoned me and humiliated me.
I was deceived by my children, for whose happiness I sacrificed my religion and my world.
I was deceived by my wealth. I stayed stingy and refused to give to those in need.
And now I am suffering for a long period in my grave.
The grave is a tight, dark and frightening place…

And then he says: “Woe to me for my negligence (and failing to fulfil my duties) on the path of God.”
According to another Hadith, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that if people could see their position among the dead and heard what the dead say, they would cry for themselves and learn lessons.
