IQNA – An Islamic society in Saudi Arabia has developed a new app for teaching the correct reading of the Holy Quran to children.

Salim Quran teaching app

The Al-Burhan Society for Serving the Quran and Sunnah has launched the app, named Salim, which helps children under the age of 8 to learn the Quran without any need for a teacher.

The Abdullah al-Raji Charity Foundation has funded the development of the app.

It combines games and teaching methods for Quranic education.

The app helps the children learn to read the Quran in the form of a story in which children accompany Salim, an intelligent and strong-minded boy, and his bird, on a journey.

They go through different stages, which become more difficult to pass as the journey progresses, in order to reclaim boxes of light stolen by satanic beings.

As the journey progresses, children, through amusing and entertaining games, learn how to correctly pronounce the words of the Surahs of the Quran.

Various new technologies and software, including AI-powered speech recognition tools, have been used to develop the app.

Abdul Rahman bin Khazir al-Khazir, an official at the Al-Burhan Society for Serving the Quran and Sunnah, said the idea of creating such an app was raised after the society recognized Muslim families’ need to have app that teaches the Quran to children in an easy way.
