IQNA — The winners of Egypt’s 31st International Quran Competition were officially announced in a ceremony held on the evening of December 10.

The competition, organized by Egypt's Ministry of Religious Endowments, began on December 7 and concluded with an awards ceremony after the Maghrib prayer at the Masjid Misr and Cultural Center in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.

The event was attended by Osama al-Azhari, Egypt's Minister of Religious Endowments, who presented the prizes and recognized the winners. The competition, which attracts participants from around the world, saw over 60 countries represented this year.

The Ministry of Endowments had earlier revealed that the prize pool for this year's edition had reached a record 4 million Egyptian pounds (approximately 130,000 USD).

The prizes were awarded across multiple categories, with competitors from diverse backgrounds vying for recognition in Quran memorization, recitation, and interpretation.

Results of the international Quran competition:

  • Category 1: Quran memorization with recitation, interpretation, and knowledge of causes of revelation (for individuals except imams, preachers, and faculty members):
    • First Place: Mahmoud Ali Atiyah Habib (Egypt) – Prize: 1 million EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Second Place: Aya Abdelhamid Abdelfattah Abu Zahra (Egypt) – Prize: 600,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Third Place: Abdelrahman Ihab Hassan Awad (Yemen) – Prize: 400,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
  • Category 2: Quran memorization and recitation for non-Arab speakers:
    • First Place: Fatimah Loun Abubakar (Nigeria) – Prize: 600,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Second Place: Toure Hassan (Ivory Coast) – Prize: 500,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Third Place: Suleiman Bikmaev (Russia) – Prize: 400,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Fourth Place: Gatiyev Musa (Chechnya) – Prize: 300,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Fifth Place: Humaira Masood (Bangladesh) – Prize: 200,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
  • Category 3: Quran memorization with interpretation of the 29th and 30th Juzes:
    • First Place: Abdulmalek Ibrahim Abd al-Aty (Egypt) – Prize: 600,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Second Place: Nasr Abdelmajid Abdelhamid Metwally (Egypt) – Prize: 400,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Third Place: Adham Essam Ali Hamed al-Rashidi (Egypt) – Prize: 300,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
  • Category 4: Quran memorization with recitation, interpretation, and diacritics for imams, preachers, faculty members, and university professors:

  • Category 6: Quran memorization and understanding for families with at least three Quran memorizers:
    • First Place: The Nasif Family (Egypt) – Prize: 1,050,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Second Place: The Zaghloul Family (Egypt) – Prize: 400,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
  • Category 7 (New): Quran translation for faculty members, university professors, graduates, and foreign language groups:
    • First Place: Mohamed Mohamed Badawi Mujahid (Egypt) – Prize: 600,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
    • Second Place: Hafiz Anwar Ahmed Anwar Pasha (Egypt) – Prize: 400,000 EGP + Certificate of Appreciation + Egyptian Mushaf
