The religious affairs department in Blida Province is among those working to open Quranic schools to welcome students in various regions.
This initiative aims to allow those interested to take advantage of the winter holidays for learning and memorizing the Quran.
If there are not enough schools, mosques will be used for Quranic instruction outside of prayer times.
Kamal Belassal, the director of the religious affairs department in Blida, said that during the winter holidays, an intensive program has been planned to accommodate the maximum number of children and young adults, enabling them to benefit from Quranic schools, libraries, and traditional Quranic education centers known as Zawayas.
He said 697 Quranic centers, 92 schools, and six Zawayas will be active for teaching the recitation and memorization of the Quran in the province.
Teaching the Quran is one of the most successful programs for supporting children and making use of their leisure time to learn about their faith, Belassal said.
He emphasized that experience has shown that Quran memorizers are successful and ethical students.
“We have reopened all Quran schools for students to use during the winter holidays,” he added.

He also urged the parents of students to create a suitable environment to encourage their children to engage with Quranic centers.
He noted that Quran memorizers from other provinces can visit the Quranic centers in Blida to obtain reading permits.
This will enhance the abilities of the memorizers and can help them become top contenders in national and international Quran competitions, he went on to say.
