Rights Groups, Locals Condemn Quran Desecration in Texas
In a controversial protest in Plano, Florida Republican Senate candidate Jake Lang insulted the Holy Quran, elmanshar.com reported.
In a provocative act, he placed a copy of the Holy Quran in the mouth of a pig during a demonstration, which angered Muslims, human rights activists, and international observers and caused widespread shock at the domestic and international levels.
In a video published on social media, Lang appeared holding a piglet with a copy of the Quran in its mouth, describing the animal as “the weakness of Islam” and saying: “This is your weakness, Muslims. We will send you back to where you came from, carrying pigs in our hands and Christ in our hearts.”
Lang organized the protest in Plano after a series of similar demonstrations, including one in Dearborn, Michigan, as part of what he describes as his campaign against the “Islamization of America.”
Activists reported that the protest marched toward Plano City Hall amid inflammatory anti-Islamic chants.
The move drew the ire of local community and human rights organizations, which condemned it as an act of inciting religious hatred and stressed that such actions do not contribute to any cultural debate about religion or society.
The incident also sparked widespread controversy on social media platforms, with users sharing the video, criticizing the act as a clear provocation and an insult to the sentiments of millions of Muslims in the United States and around the world.
