IQNA – Two prominent Palestinian Islamic preachers, preventing them from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque for six months.

Sheikh Raed Salah (C)

The Israeli regime’s police in Jerusalem al-Quds issued a decision to exile Sheikh Raed Salah and Sheikh Kamal Khatib from Al-Aqsa Mosque and its courtyards for a period of six months, starting from April 27, 2026, until October 27 of the same year.

The decision, signed by the police commander in the al-Quds area, Afshlom Bild, is based on powers granted under the regime police orders from 1971, under the pretext of "maintaining security and public safety."

The decision states a "ban on the entry of the two sheikhs into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque or their presence therein, unless obtaining a special and direct permit from the police commander."

In his comment on the decision, Sheikh Kamal Khatib expressed his rejection of the measure, considering it part of a "continuing pursuit" since the banning of the Islamic movement in 2015, indicating that the justification of the decision for security reasons "lacks genuine justifications."

He also linked the timing of the decision to his ongoing trial sessions since 2021, based on charges of incitement, asserting his adherence to his positions despite the measures taken against him.

This decision comes as part of a series of restrictions imposed by the Israeli regime on the two sheikhs over the past years, which included repeated expulsion orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque, alongside other restrictive measures and pursuits.

Sheikh Raed Salah had led the Islamic movement before its banning and has faced repeated arrests and expulsions, while Sheikh Kamal Khatib previously served as the Deputy Head of the movement and currently holds the presidency of the Freedoms Committee emanating from the Higher Follow-up Committee, also facing similar measures.

This step reflects the ongoing Israeli policies that restrict access to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
