AL-QUDS (IQNA) – The leader of the Islamic Movement in occupied Palestine called on Palestinians to renew allegiance with Al-Aqsa Mosque and vow to defend it.

Zionist settlers storm al-Aqsa Mosque

Addressing a ceremony held to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Sheikh Raed Salah said Al-Aqsa Mosque is still suffering from Israeli occupation, Pal Info website reported.

He added that Palestinians must renew allegiance with Al-Aqsa and vow to protect it against the sinister plots hatched by the Israeli regime.

His remarks came following recent incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque by Zionist settlers protected by Israeli forces.

The Hamas resistance movement also condemned the incursions, stressing that they could not change the identity of the holy city of al-Quds and the sacred mosque.

It said in a statement that the Palestinian nation will powerfully stand against the Zionist regime’s aggressive policies and foil its plots.

The movement also called on the Arab and Muslim Ummah to support Palestine in its confrontation with the Zionists and in defending the first Qibla of Muslims (Al-Aqsa Mosque).

On Monday, Jewish extremists stormed al-Aqsa Mosque under police protection and made a provocative tour of the compound’s courtyards as they marked the Yom Kippur holiday.

The settler incursion came in response to radical Jewish organizations calling on extremists to raid the holy Muslim site and perform rituals there as part of the Tel Aviv regime’s efforts to alter the status quo of the site.

Muslim groups and authorities have warned against Israeli attempts to divide the holy compound between Muslims and Jews in total disregard for the feelings of millions of Muslims worldwide.

Israeli settler incursions into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and violence against Palestinians have been on the rise since the hardline cabinet of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu took office last December.
