TEHRAN (IQNA) – Despite the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficulties caused by the Movement Control Order (MCO), many Muslims have used their time this Ramadan to get closer to the Quran.

Programs related to the Quran have been held such as the live telecast of the World #QuranHour organized by the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) as a platform for Muslims to study the Holy Book.

Today, the World #QuranHour with its theme of "Reboot Global Harmony" will look at the Ar-Rahman verse which will be read out by reciters from Malaysia and Indonesia, and each sentence will be explained.

According to WUIF chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff, the one-hour program which is held on the 20th day of Ramadan each year is the climax of the global "Berinteraksi dengan Al-Quran" (interacting with the Quran) program.

"The World #QuranHour program is a platform which highlights 'divine solutions' from the 114 verses in the Quran," she told Bernama recently.

Marhaini said as of 2019, the World #QuranHour has been held in more than 3,000 locations in Malaysia and 300 locations in 76 countries, with 1.46 billion postings on social media.

She said the move to interact with the Quran through the concept of "Read, Understand and Practice" is aimed at transforming society to use the Quran as a guide in life.

She added that WUIF had planned on organizing the World Quran Convention on the Ar Rahman verse last April, bringing together religious personalities and leaders from across the globe, but the event had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members of the public who want to participate in the World #QuranHour program can follow its telecast on TV Alhijrah from noon till 1pm and Astro Oasis, Bernama TV andn RTM as well as the digital platforms of Sinar Harian and Ideaktiv.
