Islamic Revolution, Manifestation of Ashura Teachings

The Islamic Revolution of Iran is a manifestation of the pure teachings of Ashura, head of the Presidential Office’s Cultural Council said.

Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Reza Akrami added that the Islamic Revolution achieved victory relying on its religious culture and moved forward benefiting from religious foundations.

He said the role of religion in the Iranian nation’s movement cannot be underestimated and that in confronting the Phalavi regime, Iranians got help from the culture of Ashura.

He pointed to slogans like “Our leader is Khomeini, our movement is Husseini (AS)” chanted during the course of the Islamic Revolution, as proof that there was a strong link between the Iranian people’s uprising and the teachings of Ashura.

The cleric underlined that the Islamic Revolution of Iran is inspiring anti-hegemony movements among world nations today.

 Hojat-ol-Islam Akrami further urged that the teachings of Ashura should be clarified in the mourning rituals in order to spread the culture of Ashura.

He went on to say that all of those who are devoted to the culture of Ashura should help to foster it, which is a culture of fighting oppression and injustice.
