Eight Islamic Countries Condemn Israel’s Rejection of Gaza Peace Roadmap

IQNA – Eight Islamic countries on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s rejection of the roadmap for implementing comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict and its opposition to Palestinian statehood, warning that the move threatened efforts to end the war and achieve lasting peace.

The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates said Israel’s position amounted to a direct repudiation of the comprehensive plan, endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and jeopardised its implementation.

In a joint statement, the ministers said Israel’s rejection of the roadmap and Palestinian statehood fundamentally undermined collective efforts to establish a just and lasting peace.

They said Israel now bore responsibility for obstructing efforts to bring peace to Gaza and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The ministers said the roadmap, accepted by Palestinian factions, was the outcome of extensive efforts by mediators, including Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye and the United States, as well as other stakeholders.

They described it as a vital step towards decommissioning weapons alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of the International Stabilisation Force, transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and reconstruction of the territory.

They warned that rejection of the roadmap constituted an explicit refusal to implement the comprehensive plan and threatened to derail efforts to end the Gaza war and establish conditions for lasting peace.

The ministers stressed the need for sustained and active US engagement to ensure Israel’s full compliance with commitments and arrangements under the comprehensive plan and its roadmap and to prevent further obstruction of their implementation.

They said Israel would bear “direct and full responsibility” for any consequences arising from continued rejection, obstruction, delay or non-compliance, including deterioration of the situation on the ground and disruption of efforts to end the war.

The eight countries reaffirmed the urgent need for the full and immediate implementation of the comprehensive plan to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, ensure security and stability, facilitate reconstruction and recovery, and advance a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood under international law.

They categorically rejected any attempt to deny or foreclose Palestinian statehood through unilateral actions.

The ministers reiterated that a just, lasting and comprehensive peace could only be achieved through implementation of the two-state solution and establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Quds as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

They warned that any attempt to deny Palestinian statehood would directly undermine prospects for peace, security and stability across the region.

The ministers also underscored the continued role of the Board of Peace and called on all parties to support its efforts to implement the roadmap and advance the second phase of Trump’s comprehensive plan.

They urged the Board of Peace, with active US support and engagement, to take immediate and concrete measures within its mandate to safeguard the integrity of the comprehensive plan and prevent any party from obstructing its implementation.
