Ahmed Karima, professor of Islamic Sharia at Al-Azhar, in a telephone interview with Al-Jazeera news network also criticized Qatar’s interference in Egypt’s internal affairs and described Doha as a stooge of Washington and Tel Aviv.
He further criticized Al-Jazeera for distorted coverage of the developments in Egypt, calling the network “Al-Jazeera, the Satan”.
Karima said Al-Qaradawi who talks about legitimacy of the government in Egypt never said anything about the former Qatari’s emir’s move to depose his father from power.
Meanwhile, a group of Egyptian university students who support ousted president Mohamed Morsi have staged a sit in at Al-Azhar University saying they would not end their protest until their detained fellow university students are released from prison.
Hundreds of supporters of the group have been killed in clashes with the army over the past few months since the ouster of Mohamed Morsi.
