Number of Foreign Pilgrims Entering Iraq for Arbaeen Exceeds 4.8 Million
The arrival of pilgrims from different countries to participate in the Arbaeen procession continues, it added, the official Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
The Arbaeen Command and Control Center affiliated with the Iraqi Security Information Unit announced in a statement the continuation of the implementation of the special security and service plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage in coordination with all security and service institutions.
The plan is aimed at supporting the security of the movement of pilgrims and ensuring the highest level of smooth traffic through border crossings and main roads with the support and direct supervision of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, it said.
The statement said that the updated statistics as of Sunday night showed that the total number of pilgrims who entered Iraq since the first of Muharram has increased to 4,887,660 people.
The statement noted that the security units and relevant institutions continue to carry out their field duties in accordance with the reviewed plans and with the supervision and follow-up of the Supreme Committee for Million-Strong Pilgrimages.
