Arbaeen A Golden Opportunity to Present Quranic Teachings to World
Speaking to IQNA, Mohammad Kazemi said Quran reciters should also explain the message of Ashura to a global audience by relying on interpretation, reflection, and understanding of Quranic principles, because today, more than ever, the world needs to hear the logic of the Quran in defending truth, justice, and fighting oppression.
Kazemi stated that everything we witness today in the Arbaeen procession has its roots in the culture of the Quran and the teachings of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
“The reality of Arbaeen is the product of tens and even hundreds of years of efforts by scholars, Qurna interpreters, thinkers and religious scholars who, citing the Holy Quran and the Seerah of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), have transmitted the truthfulness of the Master of the Martyrs (AS) from generation to generation. The result of this cultural struggle is the formation of the greatest popular movement in the Islamic world.”
This Quran teacher criticized the limitation of the Quranic activities of Arbaeen to holding recitation gatherings and said Quran recitation has a valuable and undeniable place, but the mission of the qari is not just to recite divine verses.
“The qari must be a ‘tongue’ of the Quran; that is, he must be able to explain the concepts, principles, and logic of the Quran to the audience.”
He added that today, millions of pilgrims from different countries are present on the Arbaeen route. “This gathering is a unique opportunity for Quranic dialogue with different nations. In addition to presenting a magnificent recitation, our international qaris should be able to explain to the audience the philosophy of the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS), the logic of resistance, the pursuit of justice, the fight against oppression, and the defense of human dignity, citing verses of the Quran.”

Referring to recent developments in the region, Kazemi said the events that have occurred in recent months, including the imposed war on Iran and the martyrdom of a group of commanders and defenders of the country, have revealed more than ever the legitimacy of the resistance front and its connection with the Ashura movement.
“In such circumstances, the Quranic community has a heavier duty and must explain these truths to the public through the language of the Quran.”
He added that the Holy Quran has a clear logic regarding jihad, confronting the arrogant, cultural relations, diplomacy, defending the oppressed, and many social and political issues.
“These concepts are particularly well explained in Surahs such as At-Tawbah and Al-Anfal, but unfortunately, an important part of this capacity has been neglected in the Quranic programs of Arbaeen.”
Reiterating the unique capacity of Arbaeen for transmitting Quranic teachings, Kazemi said, “In this huge gathering, people with different tastes, cultures, and nationalities gather around the axis of love for Imam Hussein (AS). This feature has made Arbaeen the best opportunity to present Quranic teachings, a capacity that should not be limited to recitation and clichéd speeches.”
He added that many verses of the Quran that are directly related to the Ashura movement, dignity, resistance, negation of humiliation, guardianship, and fighting against oppression have not yet been introduced as they should be in the Arbaeen atmosphere.
“The uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) was formed on the basis of clear Quranic principles, and it is necessary to explain this connection to the pilgrims, especially the younger generation.”
