Reports on Ayatollah Sistani’s Statements in Meeting with Turkish FM Denied

An official with the office of Iraqi source of emulation Grand Ayatollah Sistani denied reports about the senior cleric’s statements in meeting with Turkish foreign minister.

Abdul Hadi Al-Hakim said the grand source of emulation in his talks with Ahmet Davutoglu discussed no other issue than Iraq’s rights to the waters of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.

He underlined that the remarks made by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the theme of talks between Ayatollah Sistani and Davutoglu are unfounded.

In this meeting, no mention at all was made of the need for removal from power of Al-Maliki in Iraq and Bashar Al-Assad in Syria, Al-Hakim stressed.

Turkey’s Prime Minister was previously quoted as saying that Ayatollah Sistani in his meeting with Davutoglu had said that time had come for Al-Maliki and Al-Assad to be removed from power.
